On 30 August, a meeting was held in Beijing to present the 'Annual Report on Italy's Development (2021-2022)' and a seminar on China-Italy cooperation in the context of global change. The event was held both online and offline. Around one hundred experts and scholars from think-tanks, universities and the media, including Feng Zhongping, Director of the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Federico Roberto Antonelli, the new Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing, and Marco Ricceri, Secretary General of EURISPES attended the meeting during which they offered suggestions for the healthy development of China-Italy and China-EU relations.

This was the third volume of Italy's annual Blue Book, and with the theme of 'Seeking Opportunities from the Pandemic Health Emergency', the document outlined Italy's development status by 2021 in several areas including political, economic, social and diplomatic. The document provides a summary and assessment of the development of bilateral relations, analysing various aspects of relations and cooperation between the two countries. According to the Blue Book, pragmatic cooperation is the mainstream of China-Italy relations, and the drastic increase in trade between the two countries over the past year has become the focus of bilateral cooperation.

The Blue Book of Italy was compiled and edited jointly by the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Office of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Research Institute on Italy of the Chinese Association for European Studies.
