Over the past few months, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Embassy in Beijing have engaged in intensive diplomatic activity to increase air links between Italy and China. As a result of this long-term negotiation work, starting from the second half of June, Italy and China will resume four direct routes every week, which will be operated equally by Italian and Chinese companies.
Hainan Airlines will resume routes between Chongqing and Rome, Chinese airlines will fly between Beijing and Milan (returning from Italy and landing in Hohhot), while Italian company NEOS will operate two weekly routes from Milan Malpensa to Tianjin and Nanjing.
In addition to a significant increase in air routes between the two countries to meet the demands of Italian business and Chinese compatriots, the Italian Embassy also received authorization from China to operate three special charter flights in July, August and September respectively. The charter flights, organized jointly with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and operated by NEOS Airlines, will prioritize services for Italian citizens who need to travel safely between Italy and China during the summer months.
