On the morning of March 5, the second session of China's 14th National People's Congress kicked off at the Great Hall of the People. Xi Jinping and other leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the state attended the opening conference, and Premier Li Qiang presented the government's work report, according to which 2023 was the first year of the current government's work as well as the first year of full implementation of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Facing an exceptionally complex international environment and the arduous task of reform, development and stability, the CPC Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at the center, has united and led the people of all ethnic groups, resisting external pressures, overcoming internal difficulties and making arduous efforts to achieve a smooth transition in the prevention and control of Covid-19 and steadily moving it into a new phase. The main goals and tasks of economic and social development in 2023 have been successfully achieved, high-quality development has been solidly promoted, the social situation has remained generally stable, and concrete and solid steps have been taken for the complete construction of a modern socialist country.
