Science and Technology Daily, Beijing, October 10th - The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and other four departments jointly issued the "Green Aviation Manufacturing Industry Development Outline (2023-2035)" (referred to as the "Outline"), promoting the high-quality development of green aviation manufacturing industry.

The "Outline" proposes to adhere to the principle of market orientation and government guidance, innovation-ledand integrated development, coordinated planning and systematic promotion. By 2025, the energy-saving, emission-reducing, and noise-reducing performance of domestically produced civil aircraft will be further improved, the level of green aviation manufacturing will be comprehensively enhanced, and the development of the green aviation industry will achieve phased results. The safety and effective assurance system will be basically established. Domestically produced civil aircraft using sustainable aviation fuel will be demonstrated and applied. Electric general aviation aircraft will be put into commercial use. Electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft will be pilot operated. The key technologies of hydrogen-powered aircraft will be verified for feasibility. The foundation of green aviation infrastructure will be continuously reinforced, and a batch of standards, specifications, and technical public service platforms will be established to effectively support the construction of green aviation production and operation systems.

The "Outline" specifies that multiple technological routes be adopted, actively exploring new fields and new tracks for green aviation. According to the maturity of the technology, steady progress should be made in technological break throughs. During the "14th Five-Year" period, electric power should be the main direction for small aircraft, while new aerodynamic layout, sustainable aviation fuel, and hybrid power should be maintained for regional and large aircraft, among others. At the same time, active exploration of hydrogen energy, liquefied natural gas, and other technological routes should be carried out, with a forward-looking layout for future industries.

In terms of major tasks, the "Outline" proposes the construction of four major systems: a synergistic and efficient green technology innovation system, an open and integrated green aviation industry system, a market-oriented green demonstration application system, and a safe and effective service guarantee system. Meanwhile, it will implement three key projects: green aviation technology innovation, demonstration projects for green aviation innovation applications, and construction of green aviation standards and airworthiness compliance verification systems.
