Direct flights between Italy and China will be resumed in the near future through the joint efforts of the Chinese and Italian authorities. It is understood that direct flight NO976 (Milan to Nanjing) to China operated by Air Leos will start operating on June 20. In addition, direct flights from Rome to Chongqing operated by Hainan Airlines, from Milan to Beijing operated by Air China (the first point of entry is Hohhot) and from Milan to Tianjin operated by Air Leos will also be resumed in the near future.
According to the relevant regulations, as of 20 June 2022, Chinese embassies and consulates in Italy will no longer issue health codes for passengers travelling from Italy to China via a third country (destination). Passengers travelling to China are advised to make proper travel arrangements to avoid unnecessary financial losses.
After the resumption of direct flights from Italy to China, passengers departing from third countries and transiting through Italy to China will need to apply in advance to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General in the place of departure for a health code for the place of departure. Upon arrival in Italy, passengers will be tested again at the request of the embassy or consulate in Italy and will be required to apply for a health code at the embassy or consulate in Italy. Please upload a screenshot of the origin health code together with the test report for review. All transfers to Italy, whether by car, bus or flight, are considered as one transfer. If the country of origin has direct flights to China, passengers should not come to Italy for transit.
The Embassy and Consulates in Italy would like to remind all travellers who wish to travel from a third country to China via Italy to make alternative travel plans in advance to return to their country of origin if their journey is disrupted, in order to avoid being stranded in Italy if they test positive during their transit.
