  • Tianjin is rich in talent resources, including local college and universities graduates, incoming talents, and high-end innovative talents.


    Colleges and Universities

    Tianjin is home to 56 colleges and universities, including two universities, Nankai University and Tianjin University, which are under the management of the Ministry of Education. Additionally, the Civil Aviation Administration of China University falls under the management of the Ministry of Transport, while the remaining 53 colleges and universities are managed by Tianjin itself. Every year, over 160,000 students graduate from colleges and universities in Tianjin. The population of individuals with college or university degrees in the city constitutes more than 26% of the total population, ranking Tianjin third among the provinces in the country. Furthermore, Tianjin holds the distinction of being a national modern vocational education reform and innovation demonstration zone. Seven vocational colleges in Tianjin have been selected to participate in the National High-level Vocational School and Professional Construction Plan.


    Attracting Talents

    Tianjin is actively implementing a robust strategy to empower the city through talent attraction. The city is fervently promoting the 'Haihe Talents' plan and offering a wide range of preferential policies to enhance the competitiveness of companies in Tianjin in terms of talent acquisition. In 2019 alone, the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone implemented talent-related policies benefiting 1,600 individuals from over 150 companies.


    Innovation Momentum

    Tianjin is actively implementing its innovation-driven development strategy and making significant progress in building an innovative and modern city. In 2019, Tianjin allocated 46.297 billion yuan towards social research and experimental development, showcasing its commitment to advancing scientific and technological advancements. The investment intensity of research and development funding, measured by the ratio of research and development funds to the city's GDP, stood at 3.28%. This achievement positioned Tianjin as the third-highest in the country, trailing only Beijing and Shanghai.

    Tianjin's research and experimental development personnel in 2019 numbered 143,900 individuals, with doctors and masters comprising 28.6% of this workforce. The composition of research and practical development personnel in the city continues to optimize, with colleges and universities actively engaging in research projects. Furthermore, the city boasted an impressive talent pool, with 17,000 high-level talents holding master's degrees or above, intermediate professional titles, and other commendable qualifications by the end of 2019. Additionally, Tianjin featured 33 postdoctoral workstations with 40 doctoral researchers, along with 89 national-level talents, including academicians and special experts appointed by the State Council. Furthermore, the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone had 289 provincial-level talents contributing to its development and growth.
