Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Serbia?Adrijana Mesarovic visited Tianjin on April 28, expressing strong interest in expanding bilateral cooperation.
On her first visit to Tianjin, Mesarovic?praised the city's rapid progress in technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, and logistics. She noted that many of Tianjin's development practices offer valuable lessons for Serbia.
The long-standing ties between China and Serbia continue to deepen, with bilateral trade between Tianjin and Serbia reaching 1.1 billion yuan ($160.87 million) in 2025, up 3.9 percent year-on-year. Growth has remained steady in 2026, supported by the implementation of the China-Serbia Free Trade Agreement.
During the visit, the Serbian delegation discussed cooperation with TBEA, including the potential establishment of a transformer production base in Serbia. The project aims to support the country's power grid modernization while leveraging Serbia's free trade access to broader Eurasian markets.
Mesarovic?also highlighted Tianjin Port's potential as a gateway for Serbian agricultural products. She expressed hopes that exports of Serbian wine, brandy, honey, and dried plums to China could be expanded, with wine serving as a key entry point.
Looking ahead, Serbia is aligning its development strategies with China's upcoming Five-Year Plan and seeks to establish a regular coordination mechanism with Tianjin to turn cooperation into concrete projects, setting a model for China-Central and Eastern Europe partnerships.
