In recent years, traveling by helicopter has become a new choice for tourists during holidays. During the just-passed National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, low-altitude tour projects such as helicopter sightseeing at Gansu Zhangye Danxia National Geopark recorded more than 500 flight sorties and carried over 1,700 passengers. Places such as Zhejiang, Heilongjiang, and Hubei have all developed helicopter low-altitude tour projects, such as overlooking the Qiantang River, “flying over” the Greater Khingan Mountains, and enjoying the most beautiful skyline of the Yangtze River from the air. This unique way of traveling provides tourists with a new visual experience.
Data shows that in 2024, China’s helicopter air tours reached 426,000 sorties, a year-on-year increase of more than 30%, and the flight time exceeded 37,000 hours, twice that of 2019. Participating experts stated that, helicopters with mature technology, stronger flight stability and reliability have played a cornerstone role in the development of the low-altitude economy.
