Recently, the Distributed Photovoltaic Project at Lingang Second Sewage Treatment Plant in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone officially started construction. The project is the first photovoltaic project invested and constructed by Marine Group, a subsidiary of Tianjin Lingang Investment Holding Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Lingang Holding”), and will first supply the power generated by photovoltaic units to the plant itself, which can achieve average annual savings of 11,000t standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions of about 32,000 tons, while reducing the electric power cost of the plant.

It is understood that Lingang Second Sewage Treatment Plant is located to the east of Bohai 40th Road and to the south of Changjiang Avenue, covering a total area of about 50,000 square meters. At present, the plant has the capacity to treat sewage of 12,000 tons and produce reclaimed water of about 2,000 tons. The photovoltaic project team located the photovoltaic system on the roofs and sewage pools of Lingang Second Sewage Treatment Plant, realizing the effective utilization of idle spaces.

In terms of technical scheme as well as equipment and material selection, the project team took full account of the requirements of energy conservation, and the design indicators have reached the domestic advanced level. After completion, the total installed capacity is 1.42 MW, and the average annual generating capacity is about 1,549,900 KWH.

In recent years, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone has actively implemented “double carbon” strategy and adhered to the path of green development. Lingang Holding established Marine Group to focus on the layout of new energy industry, build and operate Tianjin Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Industrial Park, and gradually cultivate and form a hydrogen energy industry ecosystem covering the whole industrial chain. “Next, we will continue to actively plan wind power and photovoltaic power projects around the chain of ‘photovoltaic and wind power - hydrogen production - hydrogen energy storage - hydrogen application’, develop and expand the green energy industry, and accelerate the regional green and low-carbon transformation,” said the principal of Lingang Holding.
