On September 28, the construction of the second final assembly line of Airbus A320 series aircraft in Tianjin was officially kicked off. The Project is located in the airport area of Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone. Relying on the existing plant of Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly Co., Ltd., the production models of the project are mainly A320 and A321 aircraft. This marks the first milestone after Tianjin, Airbus and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has jointly signed the "Framework Agreement for Airbus Tianjin A320 Series Aircraft Second Final Assembly Line Project " on April 6 this year. The Project is expected to be accomplished and officially put into operation by the end of 2025, at which point, Tianjin will gain the production capacity of two single-aisle and one twin-aisle aircraft production line, so as to better satisfy the strong market demands for Airbus.

This second final assembly line project of Airbus A320 series aircraft in Tianjin marks another major project under the close cooperation among Tianjin, Airbus and AVIC, fully reflecting the confidence and determination of the three parties in further strengthening the long-term strategic partnership. After this second final assembly line of Airbus A320 series aircraft is put into operation, Airbus is expected to feature ten A320 series aircraft final assembly lines worldwide, and the second final assembly line in Tianjin will contribute to the general goal of Airbus to manufacture 75 A320 series aircraft per month by 2026.

Xu Gang, Executive Vice President of Airbus Global and CEO of Airbus China, comments, "This year marks the 15th anniversary of the operation of the Airbus Tianjin Final Assembly Line, which has assembled and delivered over 630 single-aisle aircraft, indicating that approximately 30 percent of all Airbus's fleet have been manufactured here. The groundbreaking of such an important project in Tianjin demonstrates that Airbus will continue to invest in the final assembly facilities in Tianjin, so as to better serve the Chinese market via the global production system of Airbus."
