Recently, the “Tianjin University No. 1” satellite, a new meteorological observation moonlet chiefly designed by Li Fenghui, a doctoral student in Tianjin University, and jointly developed by Tianjin Yunyao Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yunyao Aerospace”) and Changguang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd., was launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center by taking the “Ceres No. 1” remote-2 carrier rocket. The satellite successfully entered the intended orbit and the launch mission achieved a complete success.

The “Tianjin University No. 1” satellite developed this time features high integration, low weight and small size. The satellite operates in a sun-synchronous orbit of 500km, with GNSS occultation observation payload as the main payload, which can provide all-time GNSS occultation observation. At the same time, it is carried with a long-wave infrared camera for meteorological detection.

According to Li Fenghui, CEO of Yunyao Aerospace, it is expected that by the end of 2023, Yunyao Aerospace will complete the whole meteorological satellite networking and form a real-time global atmosphere and ionosphere detection system, serving the global weather forecast and short-impending earthquake forecast.
