The satellite-borne GNSS-R ocean reflection detection load can perform real-time detection of sea surface wind speed

  •  According to Dr. Li Fenghui, the general manager of Yunyao aerospace, the detection system uses marine reflected signals to detect the marine environment, which can perform real-time detection of sea surface wind speed and provide sea surface wind speed information with an accuracy of less than 2m/s. It has the characteristics of rich data volume, fast and high measurement accuracy. Because the system adopts a passive measurement method, it does not need a special launcher and saves energy and is especially suitable for satellite-borne detection. At the same time, GNSS-R ocean reflection detection technology uses the GNSS-R receiver on the satellite to receive GNSS direct signal and sea surface reflection signal, which can provide real-time sea surface wind field information in all weather and all directions. "For example, the typhoon "Yanhua" goes through many places in China. The typhoon affected areas can be accurately divided through remote sensing data, and effective information can be released through meteorological early warning so that people can carry out targeted protection and reduce losses." Li Fenghui said.

      Dr Li Fenghui said that the satellite-bone GNSS-R ocean reflection detection load is a key component of "Yunyao constellation plan". It provides powerful technical support for comprehensive detection in many fields such as meteorology, ocean, earthquake of Yunyao aerospace, and important supporting and supplement for development of the national marine industry and serve the countries along the line of "one belt and one road" effectively.
