As the general contractor of the project, China Railway Design has given full play to its design advantages and organized the design department to carry out in-depth design. To overcome the time limit of in-tunnel assembly and ensure the smooth installation of the TBM machine, the tunnel professional teams of the project department and the design department carried out the structural design optimization and calculation analysis for the second hoisting hole in a timely and efficient manner, which provided a solid support for the smooth start of the TBM construction.

　　The Shantou Bay submarine tunnel, located in Shantou Bay, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, is a controlling project of the whole line of Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway. The total length of the tunnel is 9,191m, including 2,169m crossing the submarine section of Shantou Bay. The successful start of the TBM construction of the Shantou Bay submarine tunnel indicates an important breakthrough in the construction of Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway. After the completion of the project, it can effectively shorten the development distance between Eastern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta, provide support for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and boost the economic take-off of Eastern Guangdong.
