Recently, the largest offshore crude oil production platform called Lufeng 14-4 central platform, which was designed and built independently by China and for which Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Offshore Oil Engineering" for short), an enterprise in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, was responsible for EPCI (design, procurement, construction and installation) general contracting, has successfully completed float installation in the eastern part of the South China Sea, indicating the further improvement of China's capacity in construction and installation of large offshore oil and gas equipment.

　　The Lufeng 14-4 central platform is composed of two parts, respectively topside module and jacket. It stands in the eastern part of the South China Sea at a depth of 145 meters, with a total height of 218 meters that is equivalent to the height of a 70-story building, and a total weight of nearly 30,000 tons that exceeds the weight of three Eiffel Towers. According to Gao Shuang, general manager of regional development project of Lufeng Oilfield Group, the Lufeng 14-4 central platform is built in an integrated mode, and all functional modules are assembled in the way of "block building" on land. It can accommodate workers two days after its offshore installation. The platform is expected to be put into production by the end of 2021. At that time, it will provide more oil and gas resources for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
