Recently, the 2020 comprehensive maritime search and rescue drill jointly organized by the port organizations of Dagukou Port Area was successfully held. As the largest maritime emergency drill with the most complete drill items in Tianjin Port in 2020, it helped the participating organizations to further familiarize and master maritime emergency search and rescue knowledge, procedures and methods through simulated scenarios, to enhance the feasibility and reliability of emergency plans and to accumulate practical experience in response to marine emergencies.
It is learned that the drill started with a simulated scenario that the police at Tanggu Border Checkpoint found an illegal connection of a fueling vessel with a foreign freighter. During the law enforcement process, the fueling vessel attempted to escape, and the fueling pipeline was broken by pulling in panic, causing the fuel to leak to the deck and sea. At the same time, a fire was caused by sparks arising from friction, and a sailor accidentally fell into the water due to evasion. For this situation, the participating organizations extinguished the fire on the ship in accident, searched and rescued the sailor falling into the sea, and cleared the oil pollution from the sea in accordance with the emergency plan. The result of the drill was that the fire was extinguished, the sailor was saved, and the oil pollution on the sea was properly disposed of.
