The AR-500C unmanned helicopter in this flight test has advanced flight functions such as automatic take-off and landing, automatic hovering, and over-the-horizon flight. It has a wide application, and can be used for emergency rescue, material delivery, security and fire extinguishing, forest fire protection, maritime supervision, nuclear radiation and chemical reconnaissance and other fields after installation of corresponding equipment.
According to Zeng Guogui, chief designer of the AR-500C helicopter, the AR-500C unmanned helicopter is a plateau type unmanned helicopter developed by AVIC Helicopter Design and Research Institute. Its maximum take-off weight is 500 kg, and the service ceiling is 7000 meters. The flight endurance time is about 5 hours under the condition of 5000m take-off altitude and 80kg load, the maximum level flight speed is 170 kilometers per hour, and the maximum cruising speed is 165 kilometers per hour.
"This is the first high-altitude scientific flight test of AR-500C. The test results verified its ability to fly for more than 5 hours at an altitude of 4411 meters with a load of 80kg. It means that if this type of helicopter is used for emergency rescue in plateau areas, food for at least 30 persons/day can be supplied in one flight," Zeng Guogui said happily.
