Recently,the production workshops of Goodrich Aviation Structure Services (China) Co.,Ltd. are very busy. In the face of the COVID-19 epidemic this year, GoodrichChina, a wholly foreign-owned company, brings into full play the policyadvantages of the bonded repair pilot while preventing and controlling theepidemic. In the first half of this year, the sales revenue and tax paymentamount of this company had a two-digit year-on-year growth.
GoodrichChina is registered in the comprehensive bonded zone of Binhai New Area underthe jurisdiction of the airport division of Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone(Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone). As a member of Collins Aerospace Group, thiscompany is mainly engaged in repair lease and remanufacturing of aircraftengine nacelle and associated technical supports. Since its establishment in2009, it has developed quickly and become one of the largest aircraft enginenacelle repair service providers in China.
“Atthe beginning of this year, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, ourbusiness was affected to a certain extent. With the support from Tianjin PortFree Trade Zone Administrative Committee, we fully resumed work and productionin early March.” According to Liu Jie, general manager of Goodrich China,Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee helped the enterprise alot during the epidemic. When it is short of epidemic prevention materials, thecommittee actively looked for sources of such materials, providing a physical foundationfor the production resumption of the enterprise. When it is short of laborforce during the production resumption, the committee actively coordinated withcolleges and universities as well as other companies in the zone to introduceworkers for the enterprise.
“TheCOVID-19 epidemic has caused a huge impact on the aviation repair industry ofthe entire Asia-Pacific region and even the whole world. Just because wequickly resumed work and production, many customers offered businessopportunities to us, so we turned the crisis into an opportunity during theepidemic and had rapid sales growth.” Liu Jie, general manager of GoodrichChina told the reporter that, as one of the first batch enterprises thatresumed work and production during the epidemic in Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone,the company brought into full play the policy advantages of bonded repairpilot, had quick growth in despite of the unfavorable external conditions, andfurther increased its share in China and the Asia-Pacific market. According tostatistics, in the first half of this year, Goodrich’s sales revenue had ayear-on-year increase of 17%, from RMB 70 million in 2019 to more than RMB 80million; the direct tax payment of this company exceeded RMB 5 million and theindirect tax payment exceeded RMB 10 million, with a two-digit growth in bothof these indicators; its market share in the Asia-Pacific market increased from6% in last year to 11% in the first half of this year; the number of employeesincreased by 11%. At the same time, the company had a total purchase value ofmore than RMB 50 million, which greatly promoted the work and productionresumption of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain.
Inthe first half of the year, with the support from Tianjin Port Free Trade ZoneAdministrative Committee, Goodrich China made great efforts in technologyresearch and development. It obtained additional capability to repair enginenacelle of Boeing 787 and Airbus 350, laying a solid foundation for the furthersales growth in the second half of this year and the next year. At the sametime, the company also introduced large equipment, after use of which theproduction capacity of the company is expected to increase by 30%. In the nextstep, Goodrich China will follow the arrangements on the normal prevention andcontrol of the epidemic, actively and effectively implement relevant actions,enhance operation and management, make efforts to promote high-qualitydevelopment of the company, and make contribution to the “Two Wins” of both theepidemic control and the economic and social development.
Accordingto an officer of the work bureau of the Pilot Free Trade Zone Airport Divisionof Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Administrative Committee, in the face of theoutbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic this year, Tianjin Port Free Trade ZoneAdministrative Committee supported the development of enterprises from threeaspects, respectively helping the enterprises in recovering, reducing burdensof enterprises, and empowering enterprises.
